Assistant General Manager

We are seeking an Assistant General Manager to join our team in Fort Myers, FL. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the Fort Myers branch within a construction, renovation, and speciality trade environment. This role partners with the General Manager to ensure operational excellence, financial performance, workforce management, customer satisfactions, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Assistant General Manager provides day-to-day leadership to project managers, field crews, warehouse and administrative staff, subcontractors, and CDL drivers while helping drive operational efficiency, quality, and profitability. In this role, you will serve as the acting branch leader in the General Manager's absence and support the successful execution of branch goals and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Branch Operations Management

  • Assist the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of construction and renovation projects to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Support project planning, estimating, scheduling, job costing, resource allocation, and workflow coordination.
  • Monitor operational performance and assist in achieving branch financial goals, including revenue, profitability, and expense management.
  • Review operational reports and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist with warehouse operations, inventory management, material procurement, fleet utilization, and equipment maintenance.
  • Help ensure compliance with Company policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable building codes.

Project & Client Management

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and business partners.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address scheduling, quality, or operational issues.
  • Assist in resolving customer concerns and warranty matters in a professional and timely manner.
  • Partner with the General Manager and sales teams to support customer retention and branch growth initiatives.

People Leadership

  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and support to project managers, field employees, warehouse personnel, CDL drivers, and administrative staff.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and workforce planning.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and professional development.
  • Participate in performance management, employee coaching, corrective action, and performance evaluations.
  • Manage employee work schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels, operational coverage, and efficient labor utilization.
  • Oversee the review, approval, and accuracy of hourly employee timekeeping, including timecards, attendance, meal and rest break compliance, and payroll-related records.
  • Monitor overtime usage and labor costs, ensuring compliance with Company policies and applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Partner with Payroll and Human Resources to resolve timekeeping discrepancies and ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Foster a positive culture focused on safety, operational excellence, and customer service.

Financial & Operational Performance

  • Assist with monitoring branch budgets, labor utilization, job costing, job profitability, and financial performance.
  • Support the General Manager in reviewing job costing, financial reports, and operational metrics.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and cost control.
  • Assist with implementing operational processes and continuous improvement initiatives.


Leadership Support

  • Serve as the acting branch leader during the General Manager's absence.
  • Assist in implementing Company initiatives, operational improvements, and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with corporate departments including Human Resources, Finance, Safety, Payroll, and Operations to support branch needs.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce Company safety policies and OSHA standards across all job sites and branch operations.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained for inspections, audits, incident reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support fleet safety initiatives, including vehicle inspections, maintenance scheduling, and accident reporting.
  • Assist with ensuring CDL drivers remain compliant with DOT, FMCSA, Company transportation policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in investigations involving workplace injuries, vehicle incidents, or safety concerns and assist with implementing corrective actions.

Special Projects

  • Lead or participate in branch- or company-level initiatives as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in construction, renovation, specialty trades, or a related operations environment.
  • Previous supervisory or operations management experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Working knowledge of construction operations, project management, scheduling, and job costing.
  • Understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and operational performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience using project management, ERP, or construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar systems).
  • Excellent communication, organization, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and be eligible to operate a Company-owned or personal vehicle for business purposes.
  • Ability to travel regularly to branch locations, job sites, vendor facilities, and customer meetings as business needs require.
  • Maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record in accordance with Company standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and navigating construction sites.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Ability to safely access active construction sites while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Location & Schedule

The Assistant General Manager position is located out of Amenity Construction Group's branch office in Fort Myers, FL. This is a full-time position with standard office hours, Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime or extended hours may be required based on project demands. Frequent travel to job sites and customer locations will be expected.
