Service & Maintenance Technician

Wilsonville, OR, USA Full Time
Compensation: $24 Annually

Pool & Spa Service Technician

Anderson Poolworks
Full-Time | Starting at $24.00+/hour, depending on experience

Anderson Poolworks is looking for a career-minded Pool & Spa Service Technician to join our team.

This position is for someone who wants more than just another job. We're looking for people who want to learn a skilled trade, develop their technical abilities, take pride in their work, and build a career with a growing company.

Previous pool and spa experience is preferred, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person and will be selective about who we bring onto our team.

We can teach pool systems. We can't teach work ethic, urgency, ownership, or attitude.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for self-starters.

People who show up early enough to be ready to work at their scheduled start time—not pulling into the parking lot at start time.

People who move with purpose. You don't have to run around all day, but we're not looking for slow walkers either.

You should be someone who:

  • Takes pride in doing things correctly.
  • Works well independently without needing constant direction.
  • Looks around and recognizes what needs to be done.
  • Is mechanically inclined and enjoys figuring out how things work.
  • Is comfortable troubleshooting and solving problems.
  • Communicates confidently and professionally with customers.
  • Takes responsibility when something goes wrong instead of making excuses.
  • Isn't afraid to ask questions when you don't know something.
  • Helps teammates instead of worrying about whether something is technically "your job."
  • Takes care of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Wants to continually learn and improve.
  • Understands the difference between being at work and actually working.
  • Wants to build a career rather than simply collect a paycheck.

If you're the type of person who naturally stays busy, likes fixing things, enjoys learning how systems work, and takes satisfaction in leaving something better than you found it, you'll probably fit in well here.

What You'll Do

Our Service Technicians work on residential and commercial pools, spas, water features, and aquatic facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Depending on your experience and training, responsibilities may include:

  • Perform scheduled residential and commercial pool and spa maintenance.
  • Test and balance water chemistry.
  • Inspect and operate pool and spa mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot pumps, filters, heaters, automation, sanitation systems, chemical controllers, valves, and plumbing.
  • Identify equipment problems and developing maintenance issues.
  • Perform repairs and equipment replacements within your level of training and experience.
  • Assist with equipment start-ups and commissioning of new pools and aquatic facilities.
  • Assist with larger repairs, renovations, and construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate service records, photos, readings, and recommendations.
  • Communicate with customers about the work being performed and any issues identified.
  • Maintain an organized service vehicle and properly care for company tools and equipment.
  • Participate in ongoing technical, safety, industry, and manufacturer training.

As your knowledge and experience grow, so will the complexity of the systems and projects you're trusted to handle.

What We Expect

Being a great Service Technician is about more than knowing how to work on a pool.

Our technicians are expected to:

  • Communicate professionally with customers and keep them informed.
  • Pay attention to the entire pool or spa system—not just the specific task on the work order.
  • Recognize problems, take ownership, and ask for help when needed rather than ignoring an issue.
  • Complete accurate service reports, photos, and documentation.
  • Treat customer homes, facilities, and property with respect.
  • Keep company vehicles, tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
  • Leave jobsites clean, secure, and operating properly.
  • Help teammates when needed, regardless of whether the work falls under Service or Construction.

Our goal is bigger than simply completing a work order.

We want every customer interaction to be worthy of a 5-star review.

Experience

Previous pool and spa experience is preferred, but we're willing to train the right individual.

Someone with experience in another skilled trade may also be a great fit. Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical service, irrigation, facilities maintenance, construction, appliance repair, automotive, or other hands-on mechanical backgrounds can translate well into this position.

If you don't have pool experience but you're mechanically inclined, dependable, comfortable working with customers, and genuinely interested in learning, we still want to hear from you.

We're willing to invest in someone who is willing to invest in themselves.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Acceptable driving record. Driving history will be verified before a job offer is made.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable using hand and power tools.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with customers.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to use mobile applications for work orders, photos, documentation, email, and company communication.
  • Able to lift, carry, and push 50+ lbs.
  • Able to regularly bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in equipment rooms and confined work areas.
  • Able and willing to work outdoors year-round in heat, rain, and cold.
  • Comfortable safely handling pool and spa chemicals after proper training.
  • Willing to travel throughout Oregon and Washington.
  • Willing to occasionally travel overnight for projects.
  • Willing to work occasional overtime, weekends, or on-call assignments when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous pool or spa service experience.
  • CPO certification.
  • Pool automation and controls experience.
  • Pump and filtration troubleshooting experience.
  • Heater troubleshooting experience.
  • Plumbing experience.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Commercial aquatic facility experience.
  • Manufacturer certifications or technical training.

Don't have everything on that list?

That's okay.

For the right person—with the right attitude, mechanical aptitude, work ethic, and desire to learn—we're willing to provide training and help develop the technical skills.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, primarily Monday through Friday.

Start times may adjust seasonally based on workload and weather. During periods of hot weather, earlier starts may be required.

Occasional overtime, weekend work, on-call responsibilities, and overnight travel may be required depending on customer and project needs.

One thing we are very clear about:

If your shift starts at 7:00 AM, you should be ready to work at 7:00 AM.

Plan your arrival accordingly.

Compensation

Starting at $24.00/hour and up, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability.

Compensation and advancement aren't based solely on how long you've been here.

Technical ability, productivity, reliability, customer service, initiative, responsibility, and your ability to operate independently all matter.

We want people who are interested in progressing from learning the basics to becoming highly capable service professionals.

Benefits

Anderson Poolworks offers a competitive benefits package for eligible full-time employees, including:

  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Retirement benefits
  • Company tools and equipment
  • Training and professional development
  • Industry and manufacturer training opportunities
  • Opportunities for advancement

This Probably Isn't the Job for You If...

We're upfront about our expectations because we'd rather determine whether we're a good fit before either of us wastes time.

This probably isn't the right position if you:

  • Regularly struggle to get to work on time.
  • Think arriving at your scheduled start time means you're ready to work at your scheduled start time.
  • Need someone constantly telling you what to do next.
  • Prefer moving at your own pace regardless of what needs to get accomplished.
  • Spend time standing around waiting for somebody else to get started.
  • Don't like talking to customers.
  • Walk past something that needs attention because "that's not my job."
  • Leave tools, materials, or messes for someone else to deal with.
  • Have to be repeatedly reminded about basic responsibilities.
  • Make excuses instead of owning mistakes.
  • Don't want feedback.
  • Aren't interested in learning.
  • Believe doing the minimum is good enough.
  • Are simply looking for somewhere to collect a paycheck.

There are plenty of jobs where you can punch a clock, do the minimum, and go home.

This isn't one of them.

Build a Career in the Aquatics Industry

Pool and aquatic service is a skilled trade that combines plumbing, electrical, hydraulics, water chemistry, automation, heating, mechanical systems, construction, troubleshooting, and customer service.

There is always something new to learn.

Anderson Poolworks works on everything from residential backyard pools and spas to large commercial aquatic facilities and complex new construction projects.

Someone who starts by learning routine pool service can develop into a technician capable of troubleshooting sophisticated automation, chemical control, heating, filtration, and hydraulic systems.

From there, opportunities can continue into advanced service, commercial aquatics, construction, project commissioning, leadership, and other areas of the company.

We're looking for people who want that opportunity and are willing to work for it.

Our Standard

Our standard isn't simply:

"Did you finish the work order?"

It's:

Did you solve the problem?

Did you communicate?

Did you take ownership?

Did you leave things better than you found them?

Would the customer give Anderson Poolworks a 5-star review based on their experience with you today?

If that sounds like the type of team you want to be part of, we'd like to hear from you.
